Here's your chance to own a one-of-a-kind up-cycled jacket by yours truly.. This jacket was created during the Pandemic of'20.It was made both, to pass the time, and as an attempt to create income. It has been created using a repurposed 1920's-1930's quilt, and this quilt consists of; a mix of mainly pastel pure cotton fabrics sewn together, pure cotton batting (layer between the fabrics) and cotton hand ties (the small ties throughout were originally used to keep the batting in place during washing and drying) in white and pale yellow. I created my own pattern, trying to keep the lines simple, in order to showcase the quilting as much as possible.
Any area of weakened or missing fabric was then hand-embroidered using the Sashiko style, in a variety of stitching patterns. All edges are hand-finished using a blanket stitch, and the hem of jacket features small, pale clear yellow beads. There are some areas of light fading to the patterns on the cotton pieces. Technically, this jacket is reversible, with the seam allowance finished in a decorative way (more blanket stitching), to be worn green dot print-side out.
I've done my best to show both sides, feel free to contact me for more photos. The entire process of creation took no less than 30 hours (not including hand-washing and ironing the quilt prior). 14 cross form shoulder to shoulder. 19 total length from shoulder to hem.
