This very old and very sweet Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt has been in my collection for a long time. It's from about the 1940s and like many quilts made during that time, everything was done by hand in incredibly tiny stitches. The batting is very thin.
One side had damaged blocks so when I first got it, I trimmed off most of them and re-bound that edge by hand. And in keeping with the original quilt maker, I made my stitches as small as possible also. The whole quilt is very soft and probably cannot stand daily use due to its fragility. It will, however, display nicely in any decor. After the trim job, it measures approximately 79x74. I would keep it, but you should see my quilt closet. And the adjoining spare bedroom.
